Anchorage Will Welcome Cannabis Cafes | Marijuana
Measure 2, Alaska’s legal marijuana initiative, officially goes into effect on February 24. While possession of up to an ounce of weed and six plants will become legal, the sale of legal weed won’t become a reality for at least nine months as the state finalizes its regulations.
Last week, Anchorage officials unanimously and unsurprisingly decided to ban public consumption of cannabis, following similar guidelines set in Colorado and Washington and what is becoming a legal industry’s norm. But unlike Colorado (and Denver specifically) which strictly forbids cannabis cafes, Anchorage has left the door wide open for Amsterdam-like coffee shops
