Michael Wheeler


Michael Wheeler is the Vice President of Policy Initiatives at Flow Kana, a branded cannabis and cannabis products distributor. Michael oversees the company’s local and state policy interests in California and monitors relevant federal policy.  Currently Michael leads local licensing efforts for Flow Kana in each of the company’s 5 offices throughout California.

Michael Wheeler comes to Flow Kana with more than 12 years of policy expertise in the clean energy sector. With a broad array of experience across State and Federal government as well as in the private sector, Michael owns a keen sense for the intersection of business, policy, and politics. He has been a leading and active voice in the emergence of solar from niche product into the mainstream energy mix, over the last six years.

Since 2011, Michael Wheeler has led one of the U.S.’s largest solar developer’s domestic legislative and regulatory affairs agenda at the state and federal level. In that role, he advanced a proactive national legislative and regulatory affairs program. He has played a critical role in development of more than 17 solar projects across California totaling nearly 1,000 megawatts and valued over $4 billion.  Michael acted as a company spokesperson and has spoken about industry wide issues at major industry conferences and has been featured on NPR, and in the Sacramento Bee, Greentech Media, and E&E News Wire.
